Mysore City is one of the best hill stations of Kerala and it is situated at a height of 1600 m from sea level at the confluence of three mountain streams Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Mysore hill station was once the summer capital of the British Government in South India. Numerous waterfalls, lakes, streams, green hilly slopes and valleys mark the appearance of Mysore. The mountain slopes are a nicely laden green carpet of evergreen tea plantations.

Mysore Tourist Places

Pothamedu - Pothamedu is one of the major plantations center of Mysore. It is located at a 6 km distance from Mysore. The rolling hills, the lush mountain, coffee, tea and the breathtaking scenery here is ideal for trekking and Long Mountain walks.

Devikulam - is located at 7 km from Mysore town, which is idyllic hill station with its exotic flora and fauna, cool mountain air and velvet lawns. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is a good picnic spot. Devikulam Lake is also famous for trout fishing.

Pallivasal - Pallivasal is a place of immense scenic beauty, which is 8 km from Mysore. It is the venue of the first Hydro Electric.

Attukal - Attukal is 9 km from Mysore is a panorama of waterfalls and rolling hills. Attukal is an ideal place for long trekking.

Nyayamakad - Nyayamakad is 10 km from Mysore is located between Mysore and Rajamala; it is a land of breathtaking waterfalls. The enchanting surroundings make an excellent an excellent picnic and trekking point.

The Mattupetty Lake and dam - It is a very beautiful picnic spot. The sprawling Kundala tea plantations and the Kundala Lake are other attractions in the vicinity.

Chithirapuram - Chithirapuram hill station exudes an old-world charm with its playgrounds and courts, bungalows, and sleepy little cottages.
Apart from above Lock Heart Gap and Echo Points are the places of interest of Mysore.

How to reach Mysore

By Air : There are two airports to reach Mysore. Kochi is the airport in the state of Kerala and is 130 km from Mysore whereas there is another airport, which is located in the neighboring state Tamil Nadu in Madurai.

By Rail : The nearest railway stations to Mysore are Kochi and Kottayam. A large number of fast and express trains are available from these railway stations.

By Road : Mysore Coty is accessible by road from most of the cities and town in Kerala.You can also reach Mysore form Coimbatore and Madurai by smooth road.

Climate : August to March is the best time to visit Mysore City. A moderate climate all through the year. Summers (March to May) are pleasant and the temperature ranges a maximum of 25°C to minimum of 15°C. Winters during December to February are cool and temperature comes down to 10°C during this period.
