Day 1 : Bodhgaya

The road to Nirvana starts from Bodhgaya a place where Prince Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment. Bodhgaya is the place from where Buddhism started and the place speaks for itself. There are temples, monasteries all around this place. The Mahabodhi temple is located right at the place where under a Bodhi tree Gautama became Buddha. Tourist from all around the world comes to this place and the Dalai Lama every year spends considerable time here. It is a world heritage site and there are monasteries set up by Buddhist disciples from all around the world. The architecture of the monasteries is samples of the architecture of the different countries. Roam around stay overnight and enjoy the peace within.

Day 2 : Bodhgaya- Nalanda- Rajgir- Patna

From Bodhgaya start your journey to Patna the capital of Bihar. On your way, visit the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University. The Buddhist University was established here and from 5th to 12th AD century it was the hub of higher education. On the way to Patna another attractive place to visit is Rajgir another pilgrimage site of the Buddhism. There are quite a few monuments, temples, monasteries to be visited here in Rajgir. The interesting part of this place is that there are several myths related to this place and Lord Buddha is famous all over. After some sightseeing move to Patna take a hotel stay overnight for a busy next day.

Day 3 : Patna- Vaishali- Kushinagar

Vaishali is the place where the second Buddhist council was held under king Kalasoka and Lord Buddha visited this place several times. Day 4 : Kushinagar- Lumbini

Kushinagar, a place where Gautama Buddha dies at the age of 80 years. In Buddhism this place is called Mahaparinirvana. The main attractions of Mahaparnirvana temple is the statue of dyeing Buddha. The other places which are worth visiting are Ramabhar Stupa, Matha Kour Shrine, and the Meditation Park. Take lunch here and hereafter drive to Lumbini. This place is near indo Nepal border and falls within the territory of Nepal. On reaching here take a hotel and rest overnight.

Day 5 : Lumbini- Sravasti

Prince Siddhartha Gautama was born in a royal family and Lumibini is the place where he was born. The early years of prince Gautama was spend in Kapilvastu kingdom. There are quite a few places to visit here and the must see places are Maya Devi temple and Pushkarni Pond. Spend some quality time here take lunch and drive to Sravasti a holy Buddhist pilgrimage. Sravasti is in Gonda district Uttar Pradesh.

Day 6 : Sravasti- Varanasi

Srivasti is a place where it is believed that Lord Buddha performed many miracles. Upon reaching here just check in a hotel stay overnight and move further to Varanasi. Varanasi is not only a Buddhist Pilgrimage in India for the Buddhist disciples but also for the followers of Hindu. By the holy river of Ganga people find peace of mind and nirvana. The river Ghats are quite popular among tourist; the evening view of aarti is simply unforgettable. Stay for a night here to find the best of this place.

Day 7 : Varanasi- Sarnath
