South India Pilgrimage Tour

Day 1 : Chennai

The journey of South India Pilgrimage Tours starts with Chennai. All the arrangements are done by the indiatravelpoints.com. Chennai is well connected with all the other parts of South India as well as rest of India. On reaching here you will be taken to the pre booked hotel. Spend the day chilling and relaxing and spend the night here.

Day 2 : Tirupati

A good morning starts with good food so after breakfast take a trip of the Chennai city which has some beautiful and famous temples in south India and beaches to look at. From here take a flight to Tirupati. First stop is the hotel and after that visit Tiirupati temple. Tirupati temple is dedicated to Lord Balaji is a holy shrine for the Hindus and located atop the Tirumala Hills. It is an awesome example for Dravidian architecture and outside the temple there is always a long queue of devotees waiting for a glimpse. There are other Tamilnadu temples in this town visit them. Come back to the hotel in the evening and stay overnight.

Day 3 : Tirupati- Chennai

From Tirupati take a flight back to Chennai. Check in the hotel. After this explore and discover the city of Chennai. There are some churches, cathedrals, art and culture centres and some beautiful monuments all over the place. Evening should be spending on the longest beach in the world that is Marina Beach. It is a 12 km long beach so walk on the beach and check out the stone statues that are built by it. After a bit long day back to hotel and have some good food.

Day 4 : Chennai- Kanchipuram

Kanchipuram is the seat of Hindu saint Shankaracharya and is one of the old cities of Tamilnadu. This place is just drive away from Chennai. On reaching here check into a hotel. This place is full of temples in fact; it is called the Varanasi of South India. Besides the world famous temples the Kanchipuram silk is also very famous. So people take the best of the opportunity and do some shopping. The heritage of the Kanchipuram silk is 400 years old. Stay overnight and have the best of this place.

Day 5 : Kanchipuram

After a good wealthy breakfast time for religious tour of the Kanchipuram. For the followers of Hinduism this is the best place in South India. There is a Hastigiri or elephant temple which covers 23 acres of land and has some fabulous Tamilnadu temples like Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Sri Vardaraja Perumal Temple. One of the Shakti peethas Sri Kamakshiamman temple is here which you can visit in the second half of the day. The turtle temple Sri Kacchaeswarar temple, Sri Vaikunda Perumal Temple is also famous among tourist. Spend the evening roaming around the market place and pick some souvenirs.

Day 6 : Kanchipuram- Mahabalipuram

Take a Scrumptious breakfast and straight away drive to Mahabalipuram. Located by the Bay of Bengal this city is a world heritage site. On reaching this naturally gifted place check in a hotel. Take a walk by the beaches in the evening and enjoy some vastness of the Bay of Bengal. After a long walk and stay in a beach side resort.

Day 7 : Mahabalipuram

This day is a day booked for sightseeing. The best places to see are the Shore temple and the Pancha Rathas. It is a place where the cave architecture is done on Granite rocks. There are several temples build by ancient kings. The Krishna Mandapam temple is a beautiful temple dedicated to lord Krishna and it depicts the personal life of Lord Krishna. After temples and sights the beach is waiting for you. Spend some time roaming and stay overnight in this place.

Day 8 : Mahabalipuram- Madurai

Day 9: Madurai

Sightseeing in Madurai is on the cards for the 9th day of South India pilgrimage tours. The Meenakshi temple, Koodal Alagar temple, Subrahmanya temple is dedicated to different Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The first half will be taken by the temples and post lunch session has shopping and entertainment for you. Check out the markets, pick souvenirs and local items. Than go to Thirumalai Nayak Palace and light and sound show programme.

Day 10 : Madurai- Rameshwaram

From Madurai to Rameshwaram there are multiple ways to reach bus, train or simply take the road. Home of a holy Dhams which is located at Pamban Islands which can be reached by crossing Pambal Railway Bridge. There are stories and myths related to this place which is close to Sri Lanka. Stories for Ramayana, Ram, Sita is quite prevalent and popular among locals and tourists. Stay overnight and wait for the better things to happen to you the next day.

Day 11 : Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram temple is the prime tourist attraction of this place. One of the twelve jyotirlingas the deity in this temple is a linga names Sri Ramanatha Swamy. Again it is a sample of Dravidian architecture. Hereafter there is Kothandaraswamy temple and Dhanushkodi to visit. After lunch there is Sethua Karaj where Purushottam Rama himself built a stone bridge to visit. The long day ends with a walk on the beaches. Spend the night here in Rameshwaram.

Day 12 : Rameshwaram- Aurovile

Come back to Madurai, take the flight to Pondicherry. Now once you reach Pondicherry the indiatravelpoints.com will take care of rest of the things. They will take you to Aurovile Village. It is basically an experimental transcendental township founded by mother who is a spiritual collaborator of Aurobindo Ghosh. Today go in depth of the Aurovile village. Attend Yoga and meditation classes for some spiritual relaxation. The next thing is the heritage of Pondicherry town which was a French colony till 1954. The next place is Puttaparthi. First fly back to Chennai and then Puttaparthi. The abode of Sri Satya Sai Baba this place has a tourist lodge and ashram to stay.

Day 14 : Puttaparthi

Day 15 : Puttaparthi- Chennai
